Bill Pay

Is there a charge for the Bill Payment service?

Currently we do not charge a fee for our Bill Payment service.
What is Bill Pay?

When you request a Bill payment, we will debit the account and either process a check or send an electronic check to the payee depending on the individual payee. Bill Payment allows you to avoid purchasing stamps and saves time and money on writing checks and storing paperwork.

For each payment, the balance of your designated account is verified for sufficient funds. If the account balance is insufficient, the payment is marked accordingly and the payment is not completed (an e-mail can be sent to you to advise that a problem was encountered in processing a bill payment). If the account is sufficient the system will create a debit to the account.

How do you set up a Payee for a Bill Payment?

The first step - - - select the letter of the alphabet by which the Payee would be sorted. The system will offer a dropdown box listing all Payees that can be selected; it will automatically fill in the information once a payee is selected.

If the desired payee is not found in the alphabetical listing, the Internet Banking System makes it easy to add a new payee at any time and schedule a payment without any delays.

Any payee added is stored in a personal payee list, available for that end-user only. Enter the account number that is to appear with the payment for posting your account with the payee.

Once the payee’s record has been added to your payee list, a payment can be scheduled to send once, on a recurring basis or on a future date.

You may designate a different account for each payment, and can view and/or modify any of the payment or payee information up until the business cut-off time on the scheduled payment date. The system will store the payment information until the scheduled payment date and process the payment request at the end of the institution’s business day for the IBS system.

How do you Schedule to Pay a Bill?

After a payee has been added to bill payee list, scheduling payments is a quick process. From the main Bill Payment menu, lists of the bills to pay are available in two layouts: single or multiple. You only need only to enter the date, amount and the account from which to charge payment. (If you want to change the recurring frequency information, the Modify Payee option is used.) The payment will then appear in the View Postings report under the section headers Today’s, Future or Recurring Payments.
How do I add payees to my bill payment list online without paying it at the same time?

Select Pay Bills, Modify Payees, Add Entry. Enter payee information, including address and account number. Choose one time only payment or recurring for future dates. For amount, enter $0.00, then click Submit.

To add and pay at the same time: Click on Add and Pay for bill payment. Enter payee information, including address and account number. Choose one time only payment or recurring for future dates. (Ex. Every 2 weeks, every month, etc.). Enter amount of bill, then Submit for payment.

How do you Modify/Delete Payment?

You may change any payment entry up until the business day cut-off time on the date the payment is due to be issued/processed. If the payee information needs to be changed, this is performed under the Modify Payee option; to delete a payment the View Postings option is selected. Instructions appear on each screen for making the necessary changes.

How do you know if a bill payment will be sent via check or electronically?

When a bill payment is requested, we display under the payee’s name, the delivery method for the payment. This will either be electronically (72 hours) or by check (5-8 business days). The length of time depends on the relationship the payee has with our bill payment vendor, Princeton E-Com.

**All paper payments are sent via first class U.S. Mail to the payee’s address.
What happens to payments with incomplete or inaccurate information?

Depending on the nature of the problem, it may be rejected by Princeton E-Com, the bill payment provider, and create a Reject notice for Farm Bureau Bank to correct the next day and resubmit, causing minor problems. However, it can pass those system edits and then be handled as an exception item by the U.S. Post Office and/or payee. These situations will normally cause posting delays that may be noticed by you.
What happens if my account is insufficient?

The payment is not made and an e-mail message will be sent to your e-mail address alerting you that a problem occurred and requesting that you contact Farm Bureau Bank. The payment will appear as insufficient our daily reports.
How do I know a payment was sent?

You will see a memo post of the item after the bill payment cut-off time (3pm CST) when we process the day’s work. After the next day’s upload, or real-time posting, the transaction should appear in the history as a posted transaction.
What is the daily cut-off time for bill payments?

Cutoff time is 3pm CST for same day processing. The time appears on the bill payment pallet and will alert any person attempting to schedule a payment for the day after the cut-off time.
